Amphibious Assualt Ships maintenance
 
PIA:

Planned Incremental Maintenance.

RCOH:

Mid-life Refueling and Complex Overhaul done at Norfolk, Virginia. Newport News Shipbuilding is the only facility conducting the midlife refueling. During RCOH the ship will be refuelled and receive modifications. The entire process takes over four years to complete. All aircraft Nimitz class carriers will undergo the RCOH halfway of their expected 50 year service life.
 
Amphibious Assualt Ships news
 
The Amphibious Assault Ships deploy as either an Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) or Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) together with  accompanying ships). A Marine Expeditionary Unit is embarked on the Ready/Strike group.
