Comment(s):

The report has to be checked and some (minor) adjustments will be made during this process (mainly for the Sold and Other Delivery part). For F-16s currently listed as on order for Pakistan please see comments below the report.

The F-35A will replace the F-16 within a number of air forces. The F-35 order and production page provides the details for this new fighter including the other two variants. Israel, Norway, The Netherlands, South Korea, Turkey and the USAF selected the F-35A to replace its F-16s . The Danish government and parliament selected the F-35A in June 2016 but will need to start the contract negotiations leading to the order. Belgium is in the process of its F-16 replacement program with five aircraft competing for the contract.

Resell:

Both Jordan and Portugal acquired F-16 (A/B versions) and sold these to respectively Pakistan and Romania. The later will become the 27th country to operate the fighter.

Bahrein:

The contract covering the purchase 16 F-16Vs was awarded on June 22, 2018.

The number has been reduced due to cost reductions, the Royal Bahraini Air Force had planned to purchase 19 new F-16s. Its current 20 F-16C/Ds will be upgraded to F-16V,

Belgium:

A number of its F-16AM/BM which have been withdrawn from use have been sold to Jordan.

Denmark:

Purchased F-16A/Bs from the USAF as attrition replacement and upgraded these to the F-16AM/BM (MLU) variant.

Greece:

Requested an upgrade of its current F-16 fleet to F-16V.

Indonesia:

The delivery of F-16C/Ds relates to delivery of surplus USAF aircraft.

Israel:

Withdrew its last F-16A and F-16Bs from service on December 26, 2016. After their final flight the "Netz" as the F-16A/B is designated by the Israeli Air Force landed at Ouvda Air Base. It marked the end of 36 years of operations on this F-16 version which started on July 2, 1980 when the first four aircraft landed at Ramat David AFB. In total all the "Netz" aircraft accumulated 335.000 flight hours made during 447.000 missions.
The F-16C/D "Barak" and F-16I "Sufa" remain operational while the first two F-35I (Israel designation of the F-35A Lightning II) arrived in the country in December 2016.

Italy:

Leased F-16s in the period of transitioning from its F-104 Starfighter to Eurofighter EF-2000. It became the first country to withdraw the F-16 from service.

Jordan:

Received its F-16s from Belgium, Netherlands and the United States. The later are F-16A.ADF of which a number have been sold to Pakistan.

Jordan bought a second batch of 15 Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16s. The first two batches of six aircraft each left Volkel Air Base on October 25 and November 29, 2017.

Morocco:

Interested in acquiring 12 F-16Vs as additional to its current F-16C/D fleet.

Netherlands:

A number of its F-16AM/BM which have been withdrawn from use have been sold to Chile and Jordan. Another 15 F-16s were sold to Jordan. These were delivered on October 25 and November 29, 2017 with each flight consisting of six aircraft. The final aircraft will depart to Jordan in December 2017.

Pakistan:

Purchased F-16A/Bs which were embargoed by the USA which were delivered to AMARC (currently AMARG) for storage. Eventually 10 were delivered to Pakistan and 18 entered service in the USA with the USAF receiving one aircraft and the USN 17. These were used as aggressor aircraft.

Poland:

Received two aircraft (F-16A) to be used as instructional airframes.

Portugal:

Bought 20 new F-16A/Bs which were converted to F-16AM/BM. The second batch were former USAF F-16A/Bs which were also converted to the MLU variant. Twelve of these aircraft have been sold to Romania.

Romania:

Romania selected the F-16 to replace its ageing Mig-21s (Lancers). The aircraft are bought from Portugal which in turn bought these aircraft from the USAF (stored at AMARG). Portugal upgraded these F-16s to F-16AM/BM before delivery to the Romanian Air Force. The first F-16 was delivered in the second half of 2016.
The Romanian Air Force has an interest in another batch of (12) F-16s.

Slovakia:

Selected the F-16V to replace its Mig-29s in service. 14 new build aircraft will be bought.

United States:

Boeing has been awarded below contracts to convert F-16s stored at the AMARG Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona to QF-16
Full-Scale Aerial Target (FSAT).

The first QF-16 was shot down (by 53 WEG) on July 19, 2017.
