In 1991 I started with photographing
military aircraft at Soesterberg airbase then home to
the KLu (Koninklijke Luchtmacht - Royal Netherlands air
force) 334 squadron flying with the Fokker 27, GPLV
(groep lichte vliegtuigen) equipped with the SA.316
Alouette III and USAFE 32 TFS with F-15C/D Eagles. The
following year other bases and the first air shows were
visited. It included the RAF Mildenhall Air Fete which
marked the start of the European air show season. A lot
of visits were made to the USAFE bases in Germany. In
1996 it was time to visit the USA and during a 3,5 week
round trip from Philadelphia to Philadelphia a lot of
photo's and slides were made. Since then many visits
were made. In 2002 I had the opportunity to write my
first article about exercise Maple Flag held at CFB Cold
Lake in Canada. It was published in Dutch in the
magazine of spotting group Volkel. At the end of 2005 I
decided to start with a website dedicated to military
aviation. Phantomaviation was chosen because of the F-4
Phantom II being my most favorite aircraft. The main
goal of the website is the online publishing of articles
and/or photographs. The focus lies on writing articles
supported by photographs although it's of course also
possible to only have photographic reports of exercises
etc. After the introduction of digital SLR cameras the
photographic equipment changed to Canon. The
articles published on the website are in most cases
reviewed before publication to make sure the information
is correct. Publications made on the website are first
available for members after which they will be transferred to either the exercise or report section.
Photographs can be used for both these sections as well
as updating the country, aircraft and/or company pages.
I'm looking forward to cooperate with you to bring
the best possible military aviation story and
photographs. Please use the contact button below.
